At Learning Essentials, IEP Coaching can inform and empower you to effectively advocate for your child. Our coaching services help you prepare for the IEP meeting, decode the language of special education, negotiate services, navigate conflicts, and create better outcomes.
Our process
Our goal is to keep the IEP process student-centered to best serve the educational needs of your child.
Our IEP coaching team will:
- Advise you of your parental rights
- Supply invaluable resources, including model IEP
- Educate you on the purpose of specific IEP sections
- Review records and assessment reports
- Propose educational goals and identify areas of concern
- Role-play effective ways to communicate with IEP team members
- Recommend attorneys, if needed

1 hour – IEP Consult
The information given on your booking intake form will drive the consultation. A consultation includes, but is not limited to: answering your questions, discussing your needs, creating an action plan, advising on next steps, or referring legal services.

STRATEGIC IEP ADVANTAGE
2 hour – IEP Review + Parent Input Statement
Have questions about your child’s IEP? Are you feeling overwhelmed with the IEP process? An IEP review is done personally by Wendy. We will go through your child’s current IEP, services, modifications and accommodations, goals, and PLOP. Following the analysis of the IEP, you’ll get a summary of recommendations. Schedule an IEP review and get a report back of the findings within two weeks.

COMPREHENSIVE IEP GUIDED PACKAGE
4 hour – IEP Review + Plan Formation + Parent Prep + Document Review + Letter Drafts
Review of your child’s current IEP and full-service preparation for education team meetings:
- Develop a strength-based parent input statement
- Review assistive technology needs and current use
- Review accommodations and modifications
- Consult prior to an IEP meeting to prepare and review parent concerns
- Create a parent communication strategy for a home-to-school communication
- Draft a parent concerns letter
- Develop checklists for IEP meetings
COMPREHENSIVE IEP GUIDED PACKAGE
*Service hours are valid for one year from the booking date. Time may be allocated at your discretion.
NOTE: Coaching is between the parent and Wendy only. Service hours may be used for a pre-IEP meeting to review concerns/areas to address during IEP meeting and/or after an IEP meeting to review the proposed IEP prior to consenting. Included service time may also include advice regarding parts of the IEP or special education process, review of school or private assessments, review of any additional concerns, development of suggested action list for parents, or any other support needed by Wendy outside of attending the IEP meetings.
NOTE: IEP coaches cannot give legal advice, file complaints, or follow due process. If you need these services, we can direct you to an IEP Advocate. However, our goal is to help you avoid those issues by giving you the tools to create and keep a strategic, effective IEP team for your child!
