Educational Services | Professional Development
Today’s students have complex needs. While a good coach is key to success, some students need a solid team to succeed. At Learning Essentials, we are all about team building and reaching our goal of improved educational outcomes.
Our professional team of tutors is trained to work with all of the specialists (educational, medical, counseling and PT/OT/SLP) assisting a student. This ensures consistent support for the child and the family.
One of the ways we do this is through offering professional development programs for educators like you. Collaborating with medical and mental health professionals, we train educators to better support students with special needs and to address underlying conditions—from anxiety and depression to autism.
Make Learning Essentials your draft pick for professional development. Founded by a former MCPS teacher and qualified educational diagnostician, we know the best plays from both sides of the field. We work with you to create playbooks for learning that help your students score success in the classroom—and beyond.

Understanding and Teaching Students with Anxiety and Depression

Join our Executive Director, a seasoned educator and diagnostician, to understand the impact of anxiety on a child’s learning and behavior and to learn effective interventions that are easy to implement in a busy classroom.
Walk A Mile: Educational Simulation
If a picture is worth a thousand words, just imagine the value of an immersive experience. Walk a Mile in the shoes of students with learning needs with this hands-on workshop that lets participants experience the world as their students do
Together we will work to understand the needs of students with learning needs, how to support students who exhibit learning challenges in the classroom and classroom supports for both special and general educators.
Universal Design: Empower and Engage all Learners
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is curriculum design approach that helps teachers customize the curriculum to serve all learners—regardless of ability, disability, age, gender, or cultural and linguistic background. UDL provides a blueprint for designing strategies, materials, assessments, and tools to reach and teach students with diverse needs.
Join our Executive Director, an experienced educator, diagnostician and special needs advocate, to learn how to provide learners with alternative ways to act skillfully and demonstrate knowledge. Also, explore how to tap into learners’ strengths and increase classroom success.
