Lockers, Bell Schedules and New Friends: Student Success in the Middle Grades
The transition to middle school can be an apprehensive time for parents and students. During this sixty-minute workshop, parents will get information to help them understand the underlying developmental issues and ease the transition anxiety. Participants will also learn ways to help their child to get organized and accept responsibility for their learning, as well as improve time management, homework skills, attendance and more!
Ready, Set, Go! Kindergarten Readiness
Learning Essentials’ Kindergarten Readiness workshop is a 60-minute program for parents, as well as caregivers, of preschool-age children ready to enter kindergarten in the fall. This interactive workshop gives participants information and ideas on how they can prepare children in all domains of learning for the BIG transition year. The workshop includes a video presentation and group activities that help parents/caregivers to identify simple things they can do in their homes to prepare their children for kindergarten.
My Dog Ate My Homework
Do you, as a parent, find yourself dreading homework time as much as your child? Do you wish you knew how to help your child tackle the nightly workload? Here is your chance. In this 75-minute workshop, parents will learn hands-on tips to help their child get organized, set good study habits, and apply strategies proven to boost memory and comprehension. The program will begin with parents taking a brief quiz to determine the type of learner they have. Next, participants will learn practical solutions to support and empower students fitting each profile. The goal is to provide every parent with the insight and instruction to promote a successful, reduced-stress homework routine. Tips for grades K-7.

Math EdVenture
Reading EdVenture
Reading EdVenture is an opportunity for students in grades k-2 and their parents to have fun together with reading. This free event features a variety of activities and games to encourage everyday reading and learning.
Together you and your child will make memories through the joy of reading. Participate in a series of interactive stations that will have you creating a comic strip, enjoying theater readings, making a cootie catcher for story talk- and so much more. Ideas such as story elements, sequencing, following directions and visualization will be explored. No special knowledge or previous experience is necessary.
Test your reading skills-you’ll leave with a goody bag and a smile!
Reading Roadblock: Experience and Understand the Challenges of Reading
Reading Roadblock allows you to get inside the head of a child who “sees the world differently,” so to speak. Experience the frustration this student feels and begin to see why it is so hard for this type of child to learn in a “normal manner.” Explore proven techniques and strategies—based on possible reading challenges—that will revolutionize the way you inspire students with learning disabilities to succeed and achieve.

This special workshop will present practical tips and share hands-on activities that will help promote learning and school success.
Strategies to Help Your Child Succeed on Standardized Tests
This 1.5-hour workshop is designed to support busy parents and boost their child’s achievement. Parents will learn hands-on tips to help their child at home with reading, study skills, listening and following directions, getting ready for tests, overcoming test anxiety, developing a positive attitude and more!
